Challenge #19

One of my favorite parts of Summer is watching old monster/ sci-fi movies at an outdoor cinema, so for today's challenge, our DT used this old movie poster as an ad-inspiration of sorts for their layouts!
And here's some fabulous layouts from the DT:

Connie

Totally loving what you ladies did with this challenge!
Also, I am thinking of creating a Facebook page for this blog as well, so everyone can share their layouts there. Would that be something we would use? Let me know in the comments what you think and don't forget to link to your layouts!

Challenge #18 - image problem fixed! :)

Sorry this challenge is up a day late- I totally lost track of time yesterday getting ready for vacation :)
This week's challenge is an ad challenge of sorts. What says summer more than a great concert? Your challenge is to create a layout using this vintage concert poster as inspiration:

Our Design Team came up with some pretty awesome interpretations! Thanks for letting me know that my experiment didn't work- everything's fixed now :)

As I mentioned above, I am going on vacation. I will be gone for 2 weeks, so our challenges will pick up again on July 27th. In the meantime, please visit the DTs blogs for some awesome inspiration! You may even find a challenge or two! And please be sure to post links to your layouts in the comments so I can see all our lovely layouts when I get back!

Challenge #17

Today's challenge is a weather-related one... since summer is now in full bloom everywhere, our challenge is a Song Title challenge: Use your favorite summer song title and/or lyrics as the theme of your layout.
Here's our DT's Scrumptious Summery layouts:
Connie
As soon as I saw the challenge, I knew which song I would use. In fact, it
was running through my head for about two weeks. Thanks for the
encouragement to do something so fun!

Missy
I used Sheryl Crow’s Soak Up the Sun for my title.  The lyrics really didn’t pertain to my pictures, but I love the title!  Plus I love the way the sun is shining on my daughter’s face, and that is the first summer song that popped into my head.

Paula

Had a tough time with this one...finding a song title that would go with photos I had.  I finally gave up and did some searches and came up with "A Lovely Cruise" by Jimmy Buffet.

The title worked...the lyrics don't...

The photos are from a Navy cruise I took in 2009 in Virginia with my younger son.
Hope you all have fun with this challenge, too :) Remember, if you play along at home to link to your layout in the comment!

Challenge #16

Well, seems like Blogger had an issue when I thought I posted this on Wednesday night, so I guess it just turns into a bonus challenge for this week? This challenge is a Use Your Stuff challenge. Today's challenge is to use stickers as your background and everything but alphas is fine (including the negatives from your alphas). Our design team has some AWESOME layouts for us, so I'm sad you didn't get to see them earlier. Anyhow, here they are:

Challenge #13

Today's challenge is a Use it Up Challenge of a different sort. Design a layout using 2 or more photos you normally wouldn't scrap (ie- the bad ones, the random ones).

The design team did an awesome job with this challenge!
Paula
I don't normally use white cardstock (but I have a ton of it), I am always wondering on how to use vellum so I used a sheet of that.  These photos are the last ones not used from our church Easter celebration and egg hunt.  I mounted the vellum on the white stock.  I chalk inked on the vellum.  I matted the photos (using all scraps) and distressed the edges and chalk inked the edges of those also. Added a few rhinestones and finished!  I figured if I was going to use it up I would try to use up more than just the photos I hadn't gotten to use.

Missy
Here is my layout for the bad photos challenge.  I used some photos of my daughter that I hadn’t planned on scrapping.  Her hair was a mess, she had a huge bruise on her forehead, and one of them is out of focus because she was turning the pages of a book up close to her face.  I wound up really liking the page, though, and I’m glad I scrapped them!  I realized it’s important to scrap even those not-so-great moments because they are STILL moments!

Connie
I knew just which photos I would use when I received this challenge. These
had been in my "to scrap" pile for about a month. I really like the emotion
in them, even though they are not great photos. I had been debating whether
or not I should create a layout with them. This challenge was just the
motivation I needed.
Have fun with this challenge! And as always, don't forget to link your layouts in the comments!
